Aircraft passenger seats made by Koito to undergo checks

EASA and FAA order checks into of aircraft passenger seats made by Japanese manufacturer Koito Industries following recommendations by JCAB.

Both agencies proposed that seats made by Koito installed on planes up to a certain date, which has yet to be determined, would have to pass safety checks within two years or else be removed.

In February, the Japanese Transport Ministry said Koito had delivered tens of thousands of aircraft passenger seats that have questionable safety standards.
