Boeing had to push back delivery of its 787 to 2011 as it could not get engines to power its ninth 787, which is the first to join the commercial fleet.
This third production aircraft is expected to carry out ETOPS testing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Jim Albaugh told Flight International.
Albaugh confirmed that the version of Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine that failed earlier this month was slated to go into the ninth aircraft.
